Leslie's interest in airborne
figures led her to the circus, where this piece got its name. Inspired by the
incredible performers of Cirque du Soleil, Leslie sculpted an aerial performer
in an extreme, athletic body position that nevertheless conveys the sense of
a dancer's grace.
The polymer clay art doll
has a fully-sculpted body with a mohair wig and is painted with acrylics. Cirque
measures about 9 inches from top to bottom, and about 10 inches from side to
side.
Cirque was featured
in the Gallery section of Contemporary Doll Collector Magazine (Oct/Nov
2001).
